Temploni protestors: “We’re not leaving!”

CORFU. 500 metres from the entrance to Temploni landfill the protestors remain adamant. “We won’t allow the landfill to open unless it’s to remove the waste bales.”
Following what they have heard from the media about the recent meeting in Athens, their comments show a clear mistrust of anyone and anything. “We won’t allow them to open Lefkimmi.” “We don’t want the waste from Paxos.” “This time we’re not going to leave and they can take us to court if they want.”
The Municipal Cleansing Service hasn’t sent any rubbish trucks to the facility and it is as yet unknown whether they will send any tonight or wait until the mayor has spoken with the local residents.
