CORFU. 30-year-old foreign national charged with attempted murder, rape and illegal possession of a weapon.
The 30-year-old man accused of stabbing the 50-year-old British national on Sunday was taken to the investigating magistrate's office this morning. He was granted a 24-hour postponement, however, as he claimed he wasn’t able to hire a lawyer. Thus, in order to appoint a state lawyer to represent him, he will appear before the magistrate tomorrow, Friday.
The charges against him are attempted murder, rape and illegal possession of a weapon.
On Sunday 11th February, following an altercation in Kato Korakiana, the accused allegedly stabbed the 50-year-old British national in the stomach and then raped his 29-year-old British partner at knifepoint.
He was arrested on Monday afternoon and on Tuesday was given 48 hours before having to appear before the investigating magistrate.
