CORFU. Residents are adopting a tougher stance and are threatening action.
The mood in Temploni is gloomy as residents wait to see what is going to happen. On Wednesday the board of the Temploni Cultural Society met to assess the Council’s unanimous decision to find a location outside Corfu to take the waste bales.
The Society, which wasn’t satisfied by the outcome of the Council meeting, is set in its position that another location needs to be found for any waste management facility. Furthermore, it is sending a clear message that under no circumstance will they allow the storage of bales or waste anywhere else.
They gave a clear warning that if this happened, then they would take action and fight against it. In the present charged atmosphere, there is a substantial police presence in the area.
