Temploni disappointed: Nothing has changed

CORFU. Magda Papanikolopoulou, President of Temploni Cultural Society, told Enimerosi, “We didn’t leave feeling satisfied,” following the Council meeting which decided unanimously to seek funding for the removal of waste bales out of Corfu.
“Our Society feels that the Town Council is just messing us about – it isn’t keeping its promise to change the site of the Integrated Waste Management facility, which was part of the so-called ‘road map’. As for the restoration of the Temploni facility that the Council has promised…..we’ll wait and see.
The discussion at the Council meeting was basically about the waste bales that have spilled over on the site, which is why everyone agreed to their being removed and transported elsewhere. There was nothing, however, about the major issue – the change of location. So, for us nothing has changed.”
The Temploni Cultural Society board is meeting tonight to evaluate the Council decision and the likelihood is that a new public meeting will be called.
