CORFU. Temploni Cultural Society reminded local authorities of their pledge that Temploni won’t be included in the Integrated Waste Management programme.
This pledge was the only reason that it suspended action in the summer of 2016 and ahead of the upcoming Council meeting, the Society is reminding authorities of their responsibilities.
Temploni Cultural Society announcement:
The residents of Temploni, exceeding their limits of endurance, honoured their pledge in expectation of the Municipal and Regional authorities implementing the plan they had produced together.
However, you have implemented neither the timeline nor the actions promised, other than a temporary measure (waste baling), which was taken far too late and produced the results that we can all clearly see.
As the only reason we suspended our mobilization in the summer of 2016 was because of the pledge made on a ministerial level and accepted by the central government (as we were told by the regional administration) to relocate the Integrated Waste Disposal (OEDA) away from Temploni, we would like to warn you ahead of the upcoming Council meeting, that if this pledge isn’t honoured, then for us it will mean ‘war’.
Let everyone face up to their responsibilities.
