Half a million euros for the restoration of the Venetian shipyard at Gouvia

CORFU. The Venetian monument has now been included in the Regional Business Programme (PEP) for the Ionian Islands following the signature of the Regional Governor, Theodoros Galatsiatos.
Apart from the Venetian Shipyard, another four cultural projects from other Ionian islands have been included. These projects are the responsibility of the Ministry of Culture and have to do with the promotion, protection and utilisation of elements of cultural and historical heritage.
These are the first new cultural projects in the Ionian Islands to be included in the PEP Ionian Islands 2014-2020 and another two are expected.
These projects ensure that important religious and historical monuments on the islands of the region are protected and restored so that they can be promoted and put to use.
The projects are funded by the European Regional Development Fund and the Greek State.
- The securing and restoration of the Temple of Agia Marina, Soularon, Cephalonia. Budget – 800,000 Euros.
- Restoration and promotion of the ancient Christian Basilicas Agia Marina and Agios Stefanos in Ozia, Paxos. Budget – 300,000 Euros.
- Promotion of Agia Mavra Castle in Lefkada. Budget - 550,000 Euros.
- Enhancement of Museum Infrastructure and Maintenance of Murals in the Post-Byzantine Temple of Ithaki. Budget – 300,000 Euros.
