Read what the head of the Regional Agricultural Economy Administration, Stamatis Ginis, said to Enimerosi.

CORFU. The Regional Agricultural Economy Administration is seriously concerned following the destruction of trees and olive groves around Lefkimmi. Mr. Ginis said that many of the olive trees that fell in the thunderstorms had olives on them. He expressed his disappointment, as there had been positive results from their spraying of the trees in the fight against the olive fruit fly this year in the Lefkimmi region.

Regarding the possibility of further trees falling, as happened on Monday morning in Melikia, he replied that in these kind of situations there is always that underlying danger.

When there is danger of a tree falling.

He stated that if the tree is on sloping ground or a gutter, if part of the ground has been eroded or if the tree has been partly uprooted, then there is a danger of the tree falling. Sometimes this can only be noticed by an agronomist, so he urged people to be particularly careful.
