Demonstration against municipal tax increases
CORFU. Public representatives called on the municipality to find a solution to the issue of cleaning services without passing the problem on to the public through tax increases.
There was a protest demonstration on Tuesday morning, 25/02, opposing the increase in municipal cleaning service taxes.
Residents of the central municipality, along with representatives of municipal factions, gathered at San Rocco Square and then marched toward the Maraslio town hall.
The demonstration was organised by the "Informal Group of Active Corfu Citizens", which was formed through social media and consists of individuals from various social, professional and political backgrounds.
When they reached their final destination, tensions escalated when a municipal representative, Deputy Mayor Vradis, came down to speak with the protesters.
