CORFU. There will also be a protest in North Corfu on Saturday 25 January outside the Acharavi Town Hall.

There was a large turnout for the protest organised by the Workers Centre along with other grassroots organisations in Lefkimmi on Sunday afternoon, January 12th, about the island's water supply issues. There will be a similar protest in North Corfu on Saturday, January 25th, at 6:00 pm, at the Town Hall in Acharavi, and will escalate into a pan-Corfu demonstration in the town, with the date, time, and location to be announced in due course by the Workers Centre.

On Monday morning, an informational meeting was held at the Regional Authority Headquarters under the chairmanship of Regional Governor Yiannis Trepeklis, attended by the three mayors. The meeting was convened following a request for an update to representatives of the tourism sector, who are concerned about the prolonged uncertainty and the infrastructure crisis.

Despite the numerous meetings here and there at various levels, the restoration of the network, where a significant amount of water is being lost, remains pending. This comes after valuable time has been wasted, with the start of the next tourist season fast approaching.
