Fire breaks out in Ropa Valley - Aerial resources deployed near Theotoki wine estate

The Fire Service was placed on alert once again on Saturday morning after a wildfire broke out in the Agios Ioannis area of thei Ropa Valley, near the Theotoky Wine Estate.

According to the first reports from the Fire Service, the fire started shortly after 11:00 a.m. and firefighting efforts are currently underway.

To tackle the fire, ground and aerial firefighting forces were mobilised immediately. The following are operating at the scene:

• 4 water tanker vehicles from the Fire Service, with the corresponding personnel.
• 1 water tanker from the Civil Protection Service of the Municipality of Central Corfu.
• 2 PZL firefighting aircraft, which are carrying out aerial water drops.

Firefighting crews are making efforts to contain the blaze before it spreads further.
