CORFU. The head of the voluntary group All Together for Corfu expressed his pleasure with the way large Corfu hotel units have been getting involved in clothes recycling.

Spyros Neratzis made the following statement:

"The most significant business sector on the island - hotels - is continuing to take part in clothes recycling.

IKOS, based in Dassia, with its environmental awareness has been recycling the 5 streams and organic products and has now started recycling clothing which can no longer be used.

This year a large quantity of the staff's clothing didn't got to Temploni along with tablecloths, towels and pillows which were unusable.

Using its own means of transport, the company delivered 1,137 items of clothing to Balis Bros Corfu Transport Company.

We are delighted with this initiative and participation in the recycling programme. These types of actions demonstrate the awareness of not only the administration, but also the workers in promoting proper waste management and respect for the environment.

It is up to us to support them with proper infrastructure and by following modern methods based on the principles of the circular economy.

We would like to thank the hotel administration - Giorgos Spanos, Ria Mamali and all the staff for their awareness and love of the environment and our island."
