Measure restricting attendance at events to 50 extended in Corfu and elsewhere until 4 October

ATHENS. The Joint Ministerial Decision was published in the Government Gazette - the midnight curfew on catering establishments has also been extended.

The Joint Ministerial Decision regarding maximum attendance at public and social events and special regulations for catering establishments was published in the Government Gazette and will remain in force until 4 October.

According to the decision, in the areas listed below a maximum of 50 people are allowed to attend any public or social event, whether it is held at a public or private venue, indoors or outdoors, including ceremonies such as weddings, christenings and funerals and any events linked to these.

1) Crete, East Macedonia & Thrace 2) Thessaloniki, Halkidiki, Larissa, Corfu, Karditsa, Trikala, Pellas, Pieria, Kilkis, Lesvos and Imathia 3) Mykonos, Santorini, Volos, Katerini, Rhodes, Zakynthos, Kos, Paros and Antiparos.

The limit does not include personnel working at the event.

The limit of 50 people does not apply to catering establishments, live performances (such as theatre, dance and music) and cinema.

For violations of the above measure there will be fines of €150 for individuals and from €3,000 to €5,000 for the organisers along with temporary closure of the business for 15 calendar days.

Special measures for catering establishments:

In the areas listed below catering establishments are not allowed to remain open between midnight and 5 a.m. This includes restaurants, mobile catering units, cafe-bars, caterers and venues for special events such as weddings and other entertainment. It does not apply to delivery and take-away businesses - who must adhere to physical distancing of at least 1.5 metres - and drive-through businesses.

The decision applies to services and activities in tourist accommodation. For violations of the above measure there will be fines of €10,000 and temporary closure of the business for up to 20 days.
