CORFU. "The shortages in any body, especially in the field of transport, can be disastrous as has been proven in the worst way".
The Corfu Civil Aviation Employees Union voiced its concern on the occasion of the recent tragedy in Tempi. As a union in the field of aviation safety, it has pointed out many times the significant shortcomings in modern equipment and personnel, in order for the air navigation services provided to have a high level of safety.
Statement from the Union:
The Corfu Civil Aviation Employees Union Board and members would like to express their grief for the victims of the fatal rail accident, the majority of whom were young people, as well as the employees, who will never see their families again. Our thoughts are with the injured, to whom we wish a speedy recovery.
Unfortunately, shortages of staff and modern infrastructure in any body, especially in the field of transport, can be disastrous as has been proven in the worst way.
As a trade union in the aviation security sector, we have pointed out many times the significant shortcomings in modern equipment and personnel, in order for the air navigation services provided to have a high level of safety.
Soon, before this year's tourist season begins, we will talk again about the concerns and difficulties we face, so that the local community is aware of them.
