Houses and shops in Corfu Town are without water due to a problem with the DEDDIE medium-voltage central electricity line which has affected the Chrysida pumping station, which supplies the town.
According to DEDDIE, lightning struck an electricity pole in a hard to access location near Halikiopoulou Lake at around 23:30 last night and since then Chrysida and Perama have been without electricity.
DEDDIE crews are working to repair the damage and it is expected to be fixed withn the next hour. Nevertheless, it will take about another two to three hours for water supply to completely return to normal and then for tanks to fill.
