CORFU. They become even more dangerous for passers-by at night due to lack of lighting.

An Enimerosi reader and resident of the area highlighted the dangerous fencing of the construction site in Garitsa Park.

The plastic mesh from Douglas Column to the Desyllas junction is being supported by sharp iron rods, which become even more dangerous for passers-by at night due to lack of lighting. The reader clarified that she is not referring to the redevelopment project, but to the issue of pedestrian safety.

She also sent some photos to Enimerosi.

Some iron rods even project towards the pavement and could thus injure anyone walking in the area, young children or the visually challenged.

At night the park is completely dark, as there is only one light near the Douglas Column, which according to the reader is not always lit. In fact, she pointed out the difference with the protective measures taken abroad, where visible signs are placed even for works that last only a few days.

This incident is certainly not the only one, as it happens in many cases of public works, where incomplete or sloppy signs are being placed that could prove to be dangerous for pedestrians and vehicles.

It is truly disappointing to point out the absolutely obvious in 2022.
