Sinies Mushroom Festival, 11-12 November
CORFU. Corfu Mushroom Lovers Society and Sinies Educational and Cultural Society are organising a two-day event to learn about and taste mushrooms.
Following a two-year absence due to the pandemic Corfu Mushroom Lovers Society and Sinies Educational and Cultural Society are organising the 5th Mushroom Festival in Agia Varvara Porta in Sinies, 11-12 November, with all the necessary health safety measures.
Not only mushroom lovers, but also any 'explorers' and nature lovers of all ages are invited. Along with masks we recommend you wear warm clothing and have a basket, knife and walking stick.
09:30-11:00 - Presentation 'Recognising Mushrooms' and outing for young pupils in Agia Varvara, Porta Sinies.
11:15-12:30 - Mushroom creations and children's workshop.
12:00 - Meet up in Agia Varvara, Porta Sinies outside the church before going exploring for mushrooms with experienced guides. You need to have a basket and knife.
15:00 - Demonstration of truffle hunting with truffle hunting dogs. This will be followed by the serving of mushroom soup.
16:00 - Seminar 'Recognising Greek Mushrooms - Giorgos Konstantinidis, President of the Greek Mushroom Lovers Society.
17:30 - Mushroom tasting with Chef Fotis Paraskevaidis - mushroom soup, grilled mushrooms and other mushroom delicacies. This will be followed by a celebration with food and live music from the Faiakes band.
There will be an art & craft exhibition on mushrooms and nature by local primary and nursery schools.
