North Corfu: Door-to-door glass collection

North Corfu Municipality is starting a pilot programme to collect glass door-to-door from selected catering establishments with a view to extending the project to all businesses in the sector. The Municipality has already been collecting paper and cardboard since 2019 from businesses that are medium to large producers of this type of waste such as supermarkets, hotels etc.

Door-to-door collection is one of the most appropriate ways of implementing the circular economy system in waste management as it bolsters sorting at source and has been shown to have excellent results. It is also included in the National Waste Management Plan (ESDA) 2021-2027.
