CORFU. "We returned feeling fear for every present and future war that primarily destroys human dignity, but also with the hope that our pupils will live cheering for life and not for death."

(Corfu 4th High School) As part of an educational programme titled 'Human Rights, Science and War: Red Lines,' 69 pupils from the 1st and 2nd grades of our school, along with their accompanying teachers, went on a trip/pilgrimage to Poland.

The focal points were the city of Krakow and the extermination camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau.

There, we engraved in our minds and hearts the experience of the death of millions of people, whom the Nazis considered inferior beings because, in their opinion, they carried the seed of cultural decline. The visit to the Krakow War Museum shed light on specific aspects of Poland during World War II.

Moments of relief came from our tours of the old town of Krakow and our visit to the town of Pszczyna, with its beautiful park, and to the National Museum of Krakow.

We returned feeling fear for every present and future war that primarily destroys human dignity, but also with the hope that our pupils will live, cheering for life and not for death.
