Visit of British Embassy delegation to Old Town Hall

CORFU. During the discussion, the municipal representatives referred to Corfu’s long-standing relationship with the British market, which consistently remains one of the main sources of inbound tourism.

A courtesy meeting took place at the Old Town Hall between the Deputy Head of Mission of the British Embassy in Athens, Robyn Goldsmith, and the British Vice-Consul in Corfu, Alison Turney, with the Deputy Mayor of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, Christos Skourtis, and the Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Tourism Development and Public Relations, Spyridon Halikopoulos.

The meeting was held in a particularly warm atmosphere, confirming the long-standing ties linking the island with the United Kingdom, which constitute a strong bridge of friendship, mutual respect, and cooperation.

During the discussion, the municipal representatives focused on Corfu’s long-standing relationship with the British market, which consistently remains one of the main sources of inbound tourism. At the same time, they presented the island’s cultural richness, unique natural beauty, as well as its multicultural character, which was partly shaped through British historical influence.

The meeting concluded with the customary exchange of commemorative gifts and best wishes for the continued excellent communication between the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, the British Embassy in Athens, and the British Vice-Consulate in Corfu.
