Curtain falls on the Christmas Fairy Tale

Old Town Hall
05 Jan 2020 / 12:30

CORFU. Meropi Ydraiou promises that "It will be even better next year".

Every fairy tale has a happy ending and so there was a celebratory ending to the 'Christmas Fairy Tale' today in the Old Town Hall Square. This year's festivities, focussing on enjoyment for the young children, came to an end with closing ceremony including the percussion section of 'Capodistrias' Philharmonic Band and the organisers inviting everyone back next year.

The Deputy Mayor for Culture Chrysoula Tombrou thanked everyone individually - organisers and volunteers - for making the Christmas Fairy Tale a success and promised that it would be back again next year.

The Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands Mayor then spoke and, in turn, thanked everyone for making it happen, saying that at a difficult time for Corfu the Christmas Fairy Tale had brought some happiness, especially for the children. The Local Authority aims, in the new year, to turn the whole town into a Christmas Fairy Tale which can accommodate everyone's dreams and visions and showcase Corfu's virtues as a European town and Regional capital.

The closing ceremony ended with the percussion section of the Philharmonic Band putting on a performance that delighted everyone there and earned enthusiatic applause.

At the end all those involved in the Christmas Fairy Tale took lots of photos to remember the festive event.
