Orfeas Cinema to modify entrance, ensuring accessibility for all
CORFU. Announcement by the Orfeas Cinema, prompted by a social media post, the complaint filed by the Special Needs Association, the reference made in Parliament by MP Dimitris Biangis, and the overall publicity the issue received.
In a statement, the management of the cinema announces its intention to ensure access for everyone. The issue arose following a post by a woman who experienced difficulties when trying to attend a screening. The matter was highlighted in parliament by Corfu MP Dimitris Biangis, based on a complaint submitted by the Special Needs Association.
The cinema responded on Friday afternoon as follows:
"Orfeas Cinema informs the public of Corfu that the issue of access for people with disabilities is a matter of substance, respect, and equality. Recognising the need for permanent, safe, and dignified accessibility for all fellow citizens, the cinema’s management announces that the process of upgrading accessibility began two months ago. A technical report was drafted following a study, and implementation of the project is now underway in order to ensure full access for everyone.”
