CORFU. The protective helmet is not just an obligation; it is an act of personal responsibility and collective maturity. It is the simplest, most accessible, and – often – decisive action that saves lives.

Hellenic Police nationwide campaign "Zero Tolerance for Not Wearing a Helmet"  to begin on Tuesday, July 1.

The intensification of checks across the country is part of a targeted plan by the Hellenic Police.

The following actions will be carried out:

  • Comprehensive and systematic checks to ensure compliance with the helmet-wearing requirement for both riders and passengers, conducted by all Traffic Services, Police Departments, and the Police Patrol Units, based on the Traffic Operational Guidelines Plan.

  • Special inspections at motorcycle rental companies and among employers in the delivery sector to verify their compliance with current labour and administrative laws.

  • Strict enforcement of prescribed penalties.

  • Collaboration and joint initiatives with relevant agencies, aimed at promoting traffic awareness and collective responsibility.

As stated in the police announcement, despite intensive inspections, the number of deaths and serious injuries from road accidents remains high, with failure to wear a helmet being a critical factor in worsening the consequences.

The protective helmet is not just an obligation; it is an act of personal responsibility and collective maturity. It is the simplest, most accessible, and – often – decisive action that saves lives.
