Ministry of Shipping approves additional 150,000 euros to address water shortage in Central Municipality

CORFU. The amount will be paid gradually, depending on the progress of the project΄s implementation.

The amount of 150,000 euros was approved by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy to address the water shortage in the Central Corfu Municipality, through the General Secretariat of the Aegean and Island Policy, as announced by Deputy Minister and Corfu ND MP, Stefanos Gikas.

According to the press release issued by the Deputy Minister, the funding concerns ‘the drilling of new boreholes as well as the utilisation of existing water supply facilities,’ based on a request submitted by the Intermunicipal Water and Sewerage Company of the Municipalities of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands and South Corfu (DIADEYAK) on behalf of the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands, dated June 3rd.

The project is included in the Development Programme 2021–2025, and is titled:
‘Water supply for arid islands and improvement projects for the water infrastructure of the islands.’

The funds will be paid gradually, depending on the progress of the project’s implementation and the submission of the necessary documentation by DIADEYAK (contracts, invoices, approval decisions, etc.).
