North Corfu and Lefkada municipalities collaborating in ΄Housing and Employment for the Homeless΄ programme
CORFU. This is a programme funded by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity Organisation.
(North Corfu Municipality) The Municipality of North Corfu (coordinating body) and the Municipality of Lefkada, in collaboration with the Social Solidarity Non-Profit Organisation "Dynamis Zois," are set to implement an Action Plan titled "Housing and Employment for the Homeless III" in the municipalities of North Corfu and Lefkada, as part of the programme "Housing and Employment for the Homeless III," following the decision of the General Secretary of Demographic and Housing Policy.
The programme is funded by the Ministry of Social Cohesion and Family and Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity Organisation.
The main objective of the programme is to reduce homelessness, aiming for the immediate transition of homeless individuals to autonomous forms of living through the provision of housing and social care services, as well as the activation of the beneficiaries of the programme to reintegrate into the social fabric through counselling services and job placement.
The Action Plan includes a package of complementary actions as follows:
- Rent subsidy for a period of twenty-four months
- Coverage of expenses for household furnishings
- Coverage of expenses for utilities and shared services
- Expenses for repairs and issuing energy efficiency certificates
- Employment subsidy and insurance contributions for up to 12 months
- Subsidy of insurance contributions for both the employee and employer after the employment subsidy ends, for up to 12 months
- Subsidy of insurance contributions for both the employee and employer for new job positions for up to 12 months
- Subsidy for acquiring professional skills
- Provision of psychosocial support services and connection to additional social benefits and services
The beneficiaries of the programme will be a total of 18 households whose members have been recorded by the Social Services of the Municipalities of North Corfu and Lefkada as homeless, living on the streets (public or outdoor areas, especially: on the street, on the pavement, under a bridge, in a park, in a square, at the entrance of public transport stations, at the entrance or fenced area of a hospital or other public building, in abandoned buildings), in inadequate accommodation (caravan, car, tent, container, warehouse, shack, or any other property without electricity), or in precarious housing conditions (especially living under the threat of eviction, living under irregular rental or leasing conditions, living in the family home under the threat of violence or forced removal, temporary accommodation with relatives or friends due to the vulnerability of families or individuals).
Those interested in joining the programme from the Municipality of North Corfu are invited to submit an application along with supporting documents at the Municipality of North Corfu's protocol office at Acharavi Town Hall.
A selection and evaluation system, along with an individual interview, will be applied for their selection.
