Mayor Mahimaris appeals for settlement or arrangement of debts to North Corfu Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYA)

We appeal to all consumers in North Corfu Municipality to come to the offices of the North Corfu Water Supply and Sewerage Company in Acharavi to promptly settle or arrange their debts through an installment programme unanimously decided by its administration.

Any delay in responding poses a risk to the newly established North Corfu Water Supply and Sewerage Company (DEYA). The entire Municipality could be left without water, as DEI can cut off the power supply to the pumping stations at any time due to the high debt and it won't be able to procure materials and adequate staffing for its operation.

We remind you that the North Corfu Water Supply and Sewerage Company was established after 4 years and 8 months of incredible bureaucratic procedures.

We inherited the following dreadful situation:

• €4m debts to DEI (Public Power Corporation)
• €1m debts to contractors
• Completely destroyed internal networks
• Dismal condition of pumping stations
• Minimal staff
• Need to find additional water sources.

We must rise to the occasion and manage the situation.

ALL TOGETHER FOR SURVIVAL AND TO ADDRESS THE MAJOR ISSUE OF WATER SUPPLY.
