CORFU. Tons of rotten boats, old nets and tools, as well as personal belongings of fishermen that were abandoned there.
A crane entered the Old Fortress moat on Wednesday and began removing the debris that had accumulated there after the dismantling of the local fishermen's shacks. Tons of rotten boats, old nets, and tools, as well as personal belongings of the fishermen, had been left behind.
The request for cleaning the moat was submitted by both residents and tourism stakeholders.
