Clean-up of public spaces begins

CORFU. If objects are put back in public spaces, the provisions of the Cleanliness Regulation will apply, and removal will take place again.
A significant number of objects that had been arbitrarily placed in public spaces were removed yesterday by a municipal crew.
However, in anticipation of Central Corfu Municipality’s intervention, a large number of people promptly removed their belongings, responding both to the announcements and to letters distributed by the Cleaning Service.
The municipal crews will continue removal operations from streets, pavements, squares, shopfronts, etc., ensuring that public spaces remain clear, as mandated by applicable legislation.
The Municipality, fully aware that the placement of structures and planters in public spaces has been a long-standing practice tolerated by all of us, once again requests the understanding and cooperation of all residents.
In the event that objects are put back in public spaces, the provisions of the Cleanliness Regulation will be enforced, and removal will take place again.
