CORFU. "The meeting concluded with a commitment from all involved parties to work closely together for the successful implementation of the programmes."
(Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality) With the aim of connecting education with health, social awareness and quality of life, the Central Corfu Deputy Mayor for Health, Spyros Galanis, met with the Regional Director of Education, Petros Aggelopoulos on Wednesday, January 15. During the meeting, the following topics were discussed:
1. Continuation of the "Pericles Balanikas" Preventive Medicine Programme – Scoliosis and Oral Health
The programme, already recognised for its successful promotion of pupil health and well-being, will continue with new initiatives. The aim is to strengthen cooperation between schools, parents and local authorities by offering educational and informational tools to improve pupil health beyond medical and dental checkups.
2. Raising Awareness About Stray Animals and Animal Welfare
An agreement was reached to implement a programme aimed at sensitising pupils to the care of stray animals and the importance of animal welfare. Through experiential activities, educational seminars and collaboration with local organisations and animal welfare groups, pupils will gain knowledge and skills to adopt a responsible attitude toward animals.
3. Anti-Smoking Programme Through Role Play
This initiative involves pupils participating in role-play activities, allowing them to understand the consequences of smoking and develop the ability to resist peer pressure. The programme focuses on prevention and awareness using modern and experiential teaching methods.
The meeting concluded with all involved parties committing to work closely together for the successful implementation of these programmes.
