Central Corfu Municipality taking part in Earth Hour
CORFU. The Municipality will be turning off the lights for one hour in buildings and landmarks in the town on Saturday, March 23rd.
(Central Corfu Municipality Press Office) For the eighteenth year running, Earth Hour is WWF's largest global participatory campaign for environmental protection, and at the same time, an open call to all of us to remember the value of nature in our lives and the importance of participating in its preservation.
On Saturday, March 23rd at 8:30 p.m., turn off your lights for one hour and imagine yourself walking through our rich Mediterranean forests! Use your imagination to see all the animals, birds, and insects for whom our forests are home!
Let yourself be surrounded by the rich scents of plants and touch with your hands the leaves and trunks of the trees. Our forests are an integral part of our lives, they belong to us, and they deserve to be a part of us.
The Municipality of Central Corfu & Diapontia Islands supports such efforts, contributing this year by turning off the lights – for one hour – in buildings and landmarks of the town, the management of which is the responsibility of the Municipality, on Saturday, March 23, 2024, from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
