CORFU. The Vakantiebeurs 2024 exhibition took place successfully with over 70,000 visitors.

(Regional Union of Ionian Islands Municipalities) The President of the Regional Union of Ionian Islands Municipalities, Alexandros Parisis, announced that the Union, in collaboration with the individual Municipalities of the Ionian Islands and tourism professionals, participated with a booth at the International Tourism Exhibition Vakantiebeurs (Holidays Travel Fair) 2024 (www.vakantiebeurs.nl). The International Tourism Exhibition took place from January 10 to 14, at the Jaarbeurs Exhibition Centre in Utrecht, Netherlands, with impressive participation from tourism entities, professionals, and visitors.

Vakantiebeurs 2024 took place successfully, welcoming more than 70,000 visitors. Over 1,000 exhibitors (Tour Operators, airlines, shipping companies, travel agencies, businesses, organisations, etc.) from more than 100 countries presented tourism products and services in five large exhibition spaces.

The International Tourism Exhibition Vakantiebeurs 2024 is the most significant tourism event of the year in the Netherlands. Throughout the event, visitors can seek important information about tourist destinations and book their upcoming vacations. The participation of the Regional Union of Ionian Islands Municipalities was highly significant for the promotion and advertising of tourism in the Ionian Islands. The Netherlands is an important tourist market, as major airlines operate a significant number of direct flights from the Netherlands to the Ionian Islands during the tourist season. It is worth noting that Greece is the second most important tourist destination for the Dutch.

The Regional Union of Ionian Islands Municipalities booth received a large number of visitors, including representatives from tourism businesses and the general public, and a particularly positive atmosphere towards the Ionian Islands was observed. The responsibility for the preparation, organisation, and participation with a booth at the exhibition was undertaken by the Union's Director, Andreas Zapantis.

With the Union's participation in the Vakantiebeurs 2024 Tourism Exhibition, the natural beauty, activities, dynamics, and characteristics of the Ionian Islands were presented to tourism professionals and the interested public who wanted to plan their holidays.

During the exhibition, there was an opportunity to showcase our islands, establish contacts and meetings with representatives of tourism agencies and businesses, and promote promotional material for the Ionian Islands.
