Productive meetings of North Corfu Municipality community presidents

The working meetings organised by the North Corfu Municipal Authority for the newly elected presidents of the Municipality proved to be extremely constructive.

The start was made with the meeting on Saturday 23 December 2023 in the multi-purpose hall of the 1st Thinalia School Centre in Acharavi. All the new community authorities (community presidents and members of the local councils) and the leaders of the municipal parties in the North Corfu Municipal Council were invited to participate.

The event aimed to create a space for dialogue to help prepare the new community authorities by sharing knowledge and experiences, offering guidance and best practices for the effective management, operating framework and governance of local communities.

The book of the Municipalities and Communities Code of Law 3463/2006 with the latest amendments up to Law 5043/2023, the text of Law 4804/2021, as in force, and the explanatory memorandum of the Code, which highlights its innovations, was distributed to all presidents and leaders of municipal parties, alongside a summary road map of the responsibilities of both the community president and the community council.

This was followed by separate constructive working meetings of the municipal authority in the presence of the Mayor Mr. Giorgos Mahimaris and his associates with the community presidents per municipal unit. In particular the Esperion municipal unit (3 January 2024 at the Velonades Cultural Centre), the Agios Georgios municipal unit (4 January 2024 in the multi-purpose hall of the Agros Junior High & High School) and the Thinalia municipal unit (5 January 2024 at the Mayor's office in Acharavi), while the meeting with the community presidents of the Kassiopi municipal unit is planned to be held on Tuesday 9 January 2024.

The agenda of the meetings includes the issues of water supply, civil protection, waste management and the technical programme of 2024.
