"Following the recent equipment provided by the Ionian Islands Regional Authority to the Civil Protection Forces, at the end of 2023, according to schedule, it is providing vehicles to all the islands for better management of natural hazards. The total budget for this is 1,518,400 Euros, following a modification we made to the 'Laertes' programme – Innovative Operational System for Natural Disaster Management in the Ionian Islands Region," stated the outgoing Regional Governor, Rodi Kratsa.
The Municipalities of the Ionian Islands Region will have at their disposal 16 Firefighting Water Vehicles, allocated as follows:

Four Firefighting Water Vehicles for use in the Municipality of Central Corfu (One for Corfu and three for the Diapontia Islands, one for each island).

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of North Corfu.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of South Corfu.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Paxos.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Argostoli, Cephalonia.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Lixouri, Cephalonia.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Sami, Cephalonia.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Ithaki.

Three Firefighting Water Vehicles for use in the Municipality of Lefkada (one for Lefkada, one for Kastos, and one for Kalamos).

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Meganisi, Lefkada.

One Firefighting Water Vehicle for use in the Municipality of Zakynthos.
The specific equipment is provided for a period of 15 years, in order to upgrade the services in the field of risk management and addressing emergencies in the Ionian Islands Region. The goal is to improve the operational capabilities of the Municipalities, provide better and higher-quality security services to citizens, and take actions and measures to address emergencies.
Additionally, four 4x4 vehicles have been received, one for each Regional Unit of the Ionian Islands Region. These vehicles are accompanied by modern, advanced technology rescue equipment with the aim of enhancing operational capabilities in responding to emergencies.
The funding for the aforementioned vehicles amounts to a total budget of 1,518,400 Euros (including 24% VAT).
