Corfu Rotary Club presents awards to children from Philharmonic Societies and Children΄s Choir

CORFU. The Rotary Club΄s awards were dedicated this year to the memory of the late great musician and music teacher Anastasios Kazianis.

Corfu Rotary Club's tradition of years continued this year with the awarding of the best pupils of the three Philharmonic Societies of our town and the Children's Choir at the Corfu Reading Society on Wednesday 13 December.

The Rotary Club's awards were dedicated this year to the memory of the late great musician and music teacher Anastasios Kazianis. Present at the awarding ceremony was also the daughter of the deceased, Athena.

The official speaker of the evening was the professor of the Ionian University Faculty of Music and Audiovisual Arts Dimos Dimitriadis.

The following were awarded this year: Ektoras Delaportas (percussion) and Magdalini Varotsi (violin) from the Corfu Philharmonic Society, who shared the award, Evgenia Nika (percussion) from the 'Mantzaros' Philharmonic Society, Christodoulos Roussinos (flute) from the 'Kapodistrias' Philharmonic Society, and Eriketi Triantafyllou from the Corfu Children's Choir.

Present this year at the ceremony were the representative of the Corfu Archbishop, Father Antonios Soueref, the Corfu ND MP Stefanos Gikas, the Ionian Islands Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas, the President of the Corfu Surgical Association doctor Maria Mandyla, the representatives of the Philharmonic Orchestra and the Children's Choir and relatives and friends of those that were awarded.

The Corfu Rotary Club wishes the children continued success and to achieve their goals.
