New Central Corfu Mayor sworn in today

CORFU. Nektarios, Archbishop of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia Islands, led the ceremony.

The new Central Corfu and Diapontia Islands Municipality Mayor, Stefanos Poulimenos, was sworn in today, Sunday 17 December, at the Municipal Theatre along with the new Municipal Council.

The ceremony was led by Nektarios, Archbishop of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontia Islands.

Those attending in the full Municipal Theatre, included representatives of the new Ionian Islands Regional Governor, Ioannis Trepeklis, who couldn't attend as he was in Zakynthos. Also in attendance were representatives of Rodi Kratsa's outgoing regional authority, the mayor of North Corfu Giorgos Mahimaris, the mayor of South Corfu Vassilis Himariotis, and other members of local parties, as well as former mayors Yiannis Kourkoulos, Sotiris Mikalef, Spyros Nikolouzos, former prefect Andreas Pagratis, former regional governor Spyros Spyrou, and others.

After the swearing-in of the new mayor, members of the new Municipal Council took their turn.

Subsequently, Stefanos Poulimenos spoke about the plans of the new municipal authority and the areas where greater emphasis will be placed, such as the management of the serious issue of waste and the functioning of municipal services.
