Angry parents gather at Deputy Regional Governor΄s office demanding solution to school transportation problem
Parents and teachers from many schools of the island, who have lost their patience waiting from week to week for the problem of school transportation to finally be solved, gathered today at the Regional Unit of Corfu.
The Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas asked to see a delegation of 6 people, but all of the parents went to his office to demand a solution.
Present at the protest held outside the Prefecture were also the Laikis Syspirosis candidates Alexandra Ballou and Yiannis Borbotis, as well as the candidate for Regional Governor with PASOK Maria Dri.
What Kostas Zorbas said
Deputy Regional Governor Kostas Zorbas informed the furious parents that tomorrow, Wednesday, the first 8 routes to South Corfu will begin, while 40 more are expected to go through the Finance Committee, including the ones for North Corfu. Within the next ten days, he added, new routes will gradually begin and the transportation process will return back to normal for all schools.
Concerned
However, parents are still concerned, as none of the timelines announced have been met to date.
Corfu Music School pupils are warning of even bigger protests or even closing the road at Tzavros junction.
