Gains from circular economy help to improve four North Corfu children΄s playgrounds
CORFU. North Corfu Mayor: "This is the first project involving a return for local residents stemming from the circular economy initiatives in our municipality."
(North Corfu Mayor) The Municipality of North Corfu has undertaken the procurement and installation of new equipment, as well as safety flooring in four children's playgrounds, with a budget of €29,995.60.
These facilities are located in Sidari, Avliotes, Agrafi and Arillas in Esperia and aim to improve and upgrade the playgrounds to meet the necessary requirements for certification according to the specifications of the Ministry of Interior.
These actions ensure the safety and health of children. Part of the procurement and installation costs comes from cost savings in the management of municipal waste, which is achieved through the operation of 200 recycling centres in North Corfu Municipality, as well as the circular economy initiatives in their entirety.
This is the first project involving a return for local residents stemming from the circular economy initiatives in our municipality. The prioritisation of children's playgrounds is not accidental, as they are part of the overall infrastructure that concerns children and families.
Very soon, reciprocity through the circular economy and waste reduction will take on many and varied forms. Finally, we would like to express our gratitude to all citizens, volunteers, businesses, organisations and local councils for their participation in the circular economy activities and their contribution to the reduction of our waste and its management costs.
