Major water supply problems in North Corfu due to July wildfires
CORFU. The problems in the electricity network in the Thinalia and Kassiopi districts caused serious damage to the pumping station supply systems.
The North Corfu Municipality announced that there are major problems in the water supply of the Thinalia and Kassiopi districts due to the wildfires in July.
The problems in the electricity network (voltage fluctuations, sudden interruptions, etc.) caused by the wildfires in July in the Thinalia and Kassiopi districts resulted in serious damage to the pumping station supply systems with water cuts in the wider area.
Because of this, and especially the major damage to the pump of the borehole at a depth of 300 meters, there is a lack of water supply in the wider area of Nissaki in Kassiopi district and specifically in the settlements of Katavolos, Fakamia, Karya and Pano Viglatouri.
The North Corfu Municipality and DIADEYADK are proceeding to coordinated actions in order to immediately replace the pump and bring water supply back to normal.
We would like to thank the residents for their understanding and patience in the water supply problems that occurred.
