The presidents of the two associations, Alexandros Vergis and Pantelis Kontos, along with other members, went to the Port Authority offices this morning to express their opposition to the arrangement. The leader of the LASI regional party, Alexandra Balou, was also at the meeting.
They stated that, in recent years, the number of swimmers using the jetty has increased significantly, and it has become a popular location for a daily swim due to the economic crisis and rising fuel prices.
They pointed out that for decades, it has been a refuge for many Corfiots, regardless of whether or not it is officially designated as a bathing area. In reality, this is what it has become and therefore it should be treated as such.
The protest was organised by the Garitsa Park Association, with the support of Anemomylos Cultural Society regarding bathers at Anemomylos.
