CORFU. The three firefighting aircraft that arrived in Corfu in the afternoon are supporting the battle to contain the fire with water drops.
Firefighters and volunteers are fighting to keep the flames away from the houses in Apraos and Vouni.
Citizens and water tankers are operating in the area, while fuel trucks were emptied to fill and carry water so that fire engines do not have to leave to refuel.
Earlier the flames crossed the road to Imerolia right before the football pitch but they were contained, thus saving the Kassiopi school.
