Fire Service press conference regarding Corfu wildfires

Fire Department representative Yiannis Artopios announced at 10:00 this morning that 62 firefighters, 3 ground teams, 4 aircraft and 3 helicopters are currently operating in the area of the fire.
There are active fire fronts throughout the region, with a significant resurgence in Viglatsouri.
Last night, 17 communities were evacuated, totaling 2,466 individuals. So far, there has been no reported damage to homes.
The firefighting efforts involve forces from the Police, the Ionian Islands Regional Authority, North Corfu Municipality and the Coast Guard, as well as volunteers and a firefighting boat.
