Central Corfu Municipality in ΄100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities΄ programme

CORFU. Opportunities to secure significant community resources with environmental, social, economic, development and educational benefits.
A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed today between the Central Corfu Municipality and the Ministry of Energy and Environment, which was a positive development.
With this memorandum, the Municipality is included in the '100 Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities' programme. The Municipality announced that through this programme it can secure significant community resources with many environmental, social, economic, development and educational benefits.
Cities participating in this programme will be able to use European funding to invest and speed up their transition to climate neutrality and digital transformation, to promote holistic solutions in their urban planning, to implement smart technologies and flexible energy management systems and to adopt environmentally friendly means of transport.
Through its participation in this programme, the Central Corfu Municipality will have the opportunity to participate in major innovation actions and pilot projects.
The objectives of the programme are, amongst others, the following:
- The implementation of the EU Green Deal for environmental and sustainable development policies in cities.
- More humane cities and settlements.
The Deputy Mayor of European Affairs, Development and Digital Governance Panayiota Tzanne signed the memorandum on behalf of the Central Corfu Municipality.
