CORFU. During police checks there were 8 arrests for various offences plus 127 driving offences.
Between 10:00 and 14:00 on 24 January police in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada carried out checks.
351 vehicles and 425 individuals were checked, leading to 8 arrests - 2 in Corfu and 6 in Zakynthos - for the following offences:
- 4 for driving without a licence
- 2 catering establishments for lack of proper health certificates
- 2 for illegal residency
There were 127 driving offences, including the following:
16 vehicles were immobilised for driving without a licence, not wearing crash helmets and being without MOT.
There were also 8 offences of smoking in no smoking areas.

- 7 not wearing seat belts
- 6 not wearing crash helmet
- 2 using mobile phone whilst driving

There were also 8 offences of smoking in no smoking areas.
