CORFU. The Panhellenic Federation of Parents, Guardians and Friends of People with Special Needs sent a letter of complaint to the Deputy Minister for Employment and Social Affiars Domna Michailidou regarding the situation with the Gouvia summer camp.

The Corfu Association of Parents, Guardians and Friends of People with Special Needs announced that the Panhellenic Federation of Parents, Guardians and Friends of People with Special Needs sent a letter to the Deputy Minister for Employment and Social Affairs Domna Michailidou.

With the letter it informed the Deputy Minister of the unjustified non-operation of the Gouvia 'Stamatis Desyllas' summer camp this year as well, despite the fact that the Ministy delegated the responsibility to the Municipalities in time and funded them.

The summer camp in Corfu, the letter continues, was the only one in the country that did not operate, depriving the inalienable right of children with special needs to enjoy the sea, have fun and meet other people - goods offered for 40 years by the Ministry of Employment summer camp programme.

After presenting in detail the reports of the summer camp programme in Gouvia from 2018, it asked the Deputy Minister to respond immediately to the Federation's request and solve the problem, i.e. the shortages, the non-operation of the Gouvia summer camp and the deprivation of a social right of children with special needs.

Finally, the Federation does not accept the inappropriate and even dangerous conditions, delays and problems that occur every year at the preparation stage of the camp's operation, with huge deficiencies in infrastructure, equipment and human resources.
