CORFU. What was discussed at the meeting to address the problems caused by rainfall in South Corfu.

The possibilities of rainwater drainage in the area were examined today at a meeting held in Deputy Regional Governor for Corfu Kostas Zorbas' office with the Deputy Regional Governor for Infrastructure Manolis Orphanoudakis and the Technical Works Department officials.

The only topic of discussion was the floods in South Corfu caused by Tuesday's weather. The problems created were recorded and the possibility of further interventions was examined so that there will not be similar phenomena again.

Following the discussion, the Region is looking to take some measures, possibly starting with studies on ways of draining rainwater. Since it was established that the river did not "break" and managed to contain the high flow, the focus of the study will be on the drainage of water running down from the mountain.

At the same time, the proposal to carry out an inspection on the private plots of land that exist was discussed, in order to draw useful conclusions. Also present at the meeting was the former Technical Works Department Director Mr. Karalis.
