Green Spot opens at Thinalio Fire Station

CORFU. North Corfu΄s 135th Green Spot opened today at the Thinalio Fire Station.
North Corfu Municipality opened today its 135th Green Spot with four streams (plastic, aluminum, paper and glass) at the Thinalio Fire Station.
Present at the opening ceremony were the Regional Fire Chief Dimitris Georganas and the Corfu Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos, as well as the staff of the Fire Service, the North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris, the Deputy Mayor for Works Haritonas Koutsouris, the Deputy Mayor for Circular Economy, Environment and Public Relations Spyridoula Kokkali and officials.
The North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris congratulated and thanked the Fire Service for their excellent cooperation, while stressing that the presence of the Regional Fire Chief and the Corfu Fire Chief proves that the service cares about environmental protection, fire prevention and recycling and, thus, they support North Corfu Municipality's recycling actions, which is the best lesson and example for society. He also said that the North Corfu Municipality is always by the Fire Service's side.
The Regional Fire Chief Dimitris Georganas said that the Fire Service cares about the ecosystem and congratulated the North Corfu Municipality for creating the Green Spot. He also stressed the importance of sorting at source to reduce waste and proper management, which prevent fires.
The Deputy Mayor Spyridoula Kokkali also thanked all public bodies that embraced the North Corfu Municipality's effort and the Green Spots network, while stressing that it is extremely important to convey the message "sorting at source - proper waste management".
The Corfu Fire Chief Nikos Kolovos described the Municipality's action as pioneering and said that the Fire Service will support the bodies on issues related to citizens' safety and quality of life.
