ATHENS. 3 years’ insurance stamps have not been counted by EFKA – Problems with insurance, benefits, pensions.

The Panhellenic Federation of Tourist Guides sent an extrajudicial document to the Employment Minister and the governor of EFKA because the issue with the tourist guides’ insurance stamps that have not been counted still remains unresolved.

There has been no progress towards solving this important issue and, therefore, the Federation will hold a nationwide protest on Tuesday 5 April 2022.

Statement from tourist guides:

“Our Federation had to send an extrajudicial document because, despite our repeated calls and our meetings with officials of the Ministry of Employment, the issue with the insurance stamps that have not been counted still remains unresolved.

3 years’ insurance stamps (2019, 2020, 2021) have not been counted!!!

As a result, there are the following problems:

1. Failure to renew our insurance in time.

2. Non-payment of benefits to which we are entitled, such as for unemployment, accidents, maternity, etc.

3. Inability for tourist guides, who meet all the requirements, to retire.

- It is socially insensitive to put our insurance at risk every year.

- It is absurd for tourist guides to be deprived of the winter unemployment benefit to which they are legally entitled. Especially since they have already gone through a long period of unemployment due to the pandemic.

- It is inhuman that tourist guides, who have met the retirement conditions, cannot retire because their stamps have not been counted and are thus forced to continue working.

All of the above could have been avoided:

1. If an electronic insurance stamping was available for tourist guides. The EFKA Board has agreed on the relevant provision and the latter is ready. Thus, we request that it be submitted immediately to a Bill.

2. If, until the provision is signed, EFKA had been counting our stamps.

Contrary to its legal obligation, which still exists, ΕFΚΑ refuses to count our stamps.

We request:

1. To immediately complete the counting of insurance days of the tourist guides for 2019, 2020 and 2021 and, if there is a need, even with additional staffing (even temporarily).

2. That the Minister issue the provision that has been pending since 2020 for the electronic insurance stamping.

3. To apply article 60 of Law 4872/2021, so that 50 working days are required for the granting of this year's unemployment benefit.”
