18 arrests in Ionian Islands on Saturday night

CORFU. Police checks were conducted in the Ionian Islands between 18:00 on Saturday and 02:00 on Sunday.
Intensified checks are being conducted by Ionian Islands police. Checks were carried out in Corfu, Zakynthos, Cephalonia and Lefkada between 18:00 on Saturday 19th and 02:00 on Sunday 20th for the following:
- Thefts and burglary
- Dangerous driving
- Violations at catering and entertainment establishments
- Drug trafficking
- Immigration violations
18 people were arrested (13 Greeks and 5 foreign nationals) - 12 in Zakynthos, 5 in Corfu and 1 in Cephalonia.
The arrests were for the following offences:
10 for driving without a licence
5 for not having a proper health certificate
2 for illegal residence
1 drugs offence
There were 167 driving offences, including the following:
20 driving without a licence
17 speeding
10 not wearing a crash helmet
10 not wearing seat belts
5 driving under the influence
3 using a mobile device while driving
2 without MOT
2 uninsured
