North Corfu Municipality interest in ΄Mediterranean Cultures΄ Festival 2023

CORFU. North Corfu Municipality met with the Sinies Cultural Society president and the managing director of CIOFF - International Council of Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts.
North Corfu Deputy Mayor for Culture and Sport Theodoros Mavronas met with Sinies Cultural Society president Ioannis Garnelis and the managing director of CIOFF (International Council of Organisations of Folklore Festivals and Folk Arts) Konstantinos Ioannidis on Tuesday 1 March.
Deputy Mayor Hariton Koutsouris also attended on behalf of North Corfu Mayor Giorgos Mahimaris, who was unavoidably engaged elsewhere.
The subject of the meeting was the organisation of the next 'Mediterranean Cultures' Festival, which is taking place in Corfu in September 2023. The event is organised every four years by a country-member of CIOFF South European Sector.
The main topics of the festival will be the sea, sea-routes, ports and the cultural connections between the Mediterranean peoples and the Mediterranean influences on other cultures.
In addition to official guests and attendees, participants from 16 Mediterranean countries will be taking part with dance groups, musicians, philharmonic bands, exhibitions, local producers and artists. There will also be events throughout the island and in each Municipality and conferences involving various bodies such as the Ionian University, the Chamber of Commerce and others.
North Corfu Municipality will be organising further organisational meetings.
