AITOLOAKARNANIA: The Euroferry Olympia is being towed at a speed of just 3 knots and will arrive at Platiyialiou Port in Aitoloakarnania later today.
The Euroferry Olympia is being towed at a speed of 3 knots and later today will arrive at Platiyialiou Port in Aitoloakarnania, where it will be docked and firefighters and the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) will resume their search for the 10 persons still missing.
In a statement yesterday, the Ministry of Shipping said that taking the ship to a safe port was judged to be the only appropriate solution as the Fire service said it could do no more search and rescue in the vessel's position at sea off the Corfu coast.
Lawsuit filed against shipping company
The family of Vaggelis Malesiadas, who lost his life in the fire on the Euroferry Olympia, has filed a lawsuit against the owners of the vessel. They have asked the lawyer Yiannis Marakakis to file the suit against the owners and all those responsible at the shipping company.
