Euroferry Olympia being towed to Astakos

ATHENS. The transfers and accommodation for relatives of the missing persons will be taken care of by the Ministry of Shipping and Island Policy.
According to the Shipping Ministry, the Euroferry Olympia is being towed to the port of Astakos in Aitoloakarnanias.
In its statement, the Ministry said that they had been told by the Fire Service that they done all the search and rescue they can in the position the ship is in at present. For this reason, they have asked for the vessel to be towed to a safe port so that the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) can continue its work in the safest possible conditions.
Taking into account the present condition of the vessel and all the other circumstances and conditions for it to be towed to a safe port, the Ministry has been in contact with the salvage company regarding the safe and secure towing to the port of Platygialiou in Aitoloakarnanias.
